Former Texas A&M LB and Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller was one of the most sought after recruits coming out of high school and was a coup for Texas A&M at the time of his recruitment.

Miller was rated four stars by Rivals and was thought to be an LSU lean through the bulk of the recruiting process.

So how did the Aggies land such a coveted prize?

The Denver Broncos star tells Sports Illustrated’s Greg Bishop all about his thinking during the recruiting process.

“A&M really wanted me,” Miller says. “You know that girlfriend that’s really not that attractive but she’s going to do everything she can to keep you? That was A&M … That hot chick that just talks to you on Mondays? That was LSU.”

Miller has been a great ambassador for Texas A&M and is an NFL bright spot, especially after the school’s former Heisman Trophy winner left the league on such a sour note. And see, persistence pays off people. Just remember that the next time you mock a college coach for spending hours Photoshopping a recruit onto a magazine cover next to Beyonce.
